• apple        Welcome to the ENL Teachers' Page!

We are the push-in ENL teachers at P.S. 7.   A push-in ENL program means ENL teachers go into the classes to provide services to English language learners.   The ENL teachers teach English in the content areas, such as reading, writing, math, social studies, and word studies in small groups using ENL methodologies to enhance students learning.

As ENL teachers, we implement differentiated instructions with comprehensive input and hands-on, audio-visual, and kinetic activities.

    ·      We accommodate the needs of students at different levels of ability and learning styles.

    ·      We integrate four language modalities (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).

    ·      We challenge students’ higher order thinking skills.

    ·      We value students’ different ethnic backgrounds. We offer opportunities for all students to feel unique and successful.

English language learners are assessed based on their listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities.  We use language acquisition checklists on a monthly basis to assess students’ performances and stages of language development.  English language learners take the NYSESLAT (New York State English as a Second Language Assessment Test) in the spring each year so as to assess students’ English development or proficiency.

If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us.  We speak English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).

We hope that your children enjoy learning and make progress at P.S. 7.
